Aether Plume marks a return to Art Deco for Jason McCreadie — a direction that first captivated collectors with Prowl, which sold immediately through Inverarity Gallery in March this year. Expanding on that visual language, this new original is a far more ambitious acrylic painting at 90 x 60cm, combining elegant Deco geometry with rich contemporary colour and texture.

At the centre of the composition stands a poised female figure alongside an opulent peacock rendered with iridescent paints that shift dramatically in colour and intensity as light moves across the surface. Reflective gold detailing throughout the work catches and throws light from different angles, giving the painting a constantly changing presence that cannot be fully captured in photographs. The interaction between metallic golds, deep midnight tones and colour-shifting feather textures makes Aether Plume a piece that transforms depending on the environment and viewing angle.

Both nostalgic and contemporary, the work continues McCreadie’s exploration of glamour, symbolism and atmosphere while signalling a confident return to Art Deco — one that is far from finished.
